Suppressed are the resources that you no longer want to send emails to, you would add them to suppression list and system automatically omits everything that is on suppression list. These undesirable resources may belong to certain web monitor domain, honey pots, recipients of certain domains you don’t want to communicate to, destination IP and such. Suppression lists are also known as Don’t Send to Lists, and within Campaigns+, you separately manage suppression lists for emails, domains and IPs. Let’s learn about the Email Suppression.
Navigate to Email Suppression
Main Navigation -> Lists -> Suppression-> Email Suppression
When you first land on this page, you would see the suppression list empty as you don’t have any email suppressed to populate the suppression list table. Let’s first learn putting emails on a suppression list. Click the button towards the top left area of the table that says “Add New”, and option to add emails will prompt on your screen.
Mandatory Fields/Selections
Select List
Within Campaigns+, there are following levels of suppression that you can make use of.
- Global Suppression- First option that the dropdown offers is to suppress the contacts globally. If selected, the emails added to the suppression list will be suppressed across all the contact lists, no matter the email exists in list A or in list Z, they will be omitted during the future campaigns, unless removed from global suppression list.
- Within Specific List- This kind of suppression will only have an effect on the selected list. The suppressed contacts will only be omitted if the campaign is sent to the contacts of specific list only.
Import Emails
By default “Upload a CSV File” is selected, that means, you will have to upload a file to import the emails to the suppression list. If it is the right option for you, then proceed with the file that contains emails for suppression. Select one of the following options otherwise.
- Select a file from Server - Select this option if you already have uploaded the file to the server folder using FTP.
- Write/Paste Email Addresses- If you don’t want to go for the earlier mentioned options, you can even write the emails of the contacts manually to add them to the suppression list. Select this option and you will be provided with the text box to write.
Select File
Selection field will behave dynamically, and would provide options according to the way you find convenient to add emails to suppression list.
- It will give the ability to upload the file for import when first option is selected
- It will show all currently available files in file_import/server folder for you to make selection for suppression list
- And it will turn into a text box if you would need to write the emails manually.
Optional Fields/Selections
Here is the optional fields to help you with the better management of suppression list
Reference
It gives you an edge to later remove emails belonging to one reference from the suppression list, and in one go.
Email Suppression List
View Suppressed Emails
If you have some emails added to the suppression list, you will see these records populated in Suppression List table. Let’s discuss the information that suppression list table offers.
Selection
Rows of the first column have checkboxes that would help selecting records of multiple rows. You can select multiple suppressed emails and then choose to delete them.
Serial Number
The next column is showing serial number of records listed in the table.

Each row of the column represents a suppressed record. Until these emails are on suppression, system will omit these during the sending of future campaigns, as per your selection of the type of suppression list between Global or List Based.

If you have used this optional field only then you can see the row under this column populated. It shows which emails belong to certain suppression reference and a reference would be like Spamtraps, Undeliverable or any other identifiable value.

Domain Suppression
Function and process of adding domains to suppression list isn’t much different than adding emails to suppression list, apart from the resource you add. In case of email, you would add email addresses belonging to may be a blocklist, spam traps, undeliverable emails and such. While for the domains, you add such recipient's domains that you don’t want to send to.
Navigate to Domain Suppression
Main Navigation -> Contact Lists -> Suppression -> Domain Suppression
Once you click domain suppression, you will be landed to the page where you will see the table that consists of the domains that have already been suppressed. While to add a new domain or multiple domains to the suppression list, you would click “Add New” from the top area of the table. The process of adding a domain to suppression list is similar to what we already have learnt for Email Suppression. So we'll proceed to IPs suppression without repeating the process.
IPs Suppression
The end goal of IP suppression is the same and that is to provide a way to add undeliverable, undesirable resources, harmful for sender reputation to the Don’t Send to List. Unlike Email and Domain suppression, you can’t import a file consisting of IPs to the suppression list, rather you have to add the IPs manually to the suppression list. Here is how you do it.
Navigate to Domain Suppression
Main Navigation -> Contact Lists -> Suppression -> IP(s) Suppression
Before discussing the IPs already on the suppression list, let’s follow the pattern of first discussing how you can add these IPs. Click “Add IP for Suppression” to start with.
Mandatory Fields/Selections
IP Addresses
The box needs to be filled with the IPs that you want to add to the suppression list. IPs should be separated with a line, or if the IPs belongs to same range, hyphen or forward slash can be used to put forward multiple IPs from the same range. Forward slash would automatically determine the number of IPs in your block and will add these to suppression list, while adding multiple IPs with hyphen only adds the provided number of IPs mentioned after the hyphen. See the following example entries.
- Example entry using hyphen can be 192.168.0.1-20 will add IPs from 1 to 20.
- Example entry using / can be 192.168.0.1/24 will add block of 256 IPs of /24 range.
Contact List
Within Campaigns+, there are following levels of suppression that you can make use of.
- Global Suppression- First option that the dropdown offers is to suppress the IPs globally. If you add IPs to global suppression, system will look for the provided IPs in the whole database, if the IP given for the global suppression matches with the IPs of current opens in the database, it will be suppressed and no further emails will be sent to this IP.
- Within Specific List- This kind of suppression will only have an effect on the select list. For example, if an IP 192.168.0.1 was provided for suppression, and list "A" was selected, the IP would only be suppressed if application finds it in the list "A". After an email contact in the list "A" with the same IP opens the sent email or already have recognized within the application for opening from the matching IP, application automatically suppresses it, and no future emails will be sent to this IP address of list "A". But if the same email address exists in list "B", it will not affect the sending process and the email will be sent to it as well.
