Now as you have created list with set of required additional and custom fields, it’s time to add contact information to the available list. In CampaignsPlus, there are more than a few ways of adding contacts to your list. Adding manually one by one, using import feature to quickly add sizable amount of contacts, using API or web forms to add live feeds. In this specific article, we'll learn adding contacts one by one manually. Later in this article, we would also discuss View/Search contacts page, a page where list of all currently available contacts would appear.
Navigate to Add a Contact
Main Navigation -> Contacts -> Add a Contact
Clicking on add contact will open up a form with simple fields and selections to help you add the contact details. Here are these...
Few of the fields are mandatory to add the contact details while few others are optional. We'll discuss them separately, optional followed by the mandatory ones.
Email belongs to the default structure of list and it has to be filled with an email address of the contact. Contact details can’t be added without an email address.
The dropdown carries all available lists and requires selection of one to move to the next step. You will see if you select a list that holds some additional and custom fields, these appear on your screen straightaway after selecting the list.
Mandatory Custom Field (In Any)
From the custom fields if you have made certain field compulsory to fill in order to have the contact information added to the selected list, you will then have to consider the custom field as Mandatory to fill with appropriate information.
When the Add a Contact page loads, you will see most of these options have certain default value selected. If you want to change the default value, or provide a value of your choice, you can consider changing it. Otherwise, contact information will be added with these default or empty values.
Email format that the contact is flagged to receive as default. Default selected value is HTML, because in case of HTML, contact will still be able to receive and view the text campaigns. But if the selected format is text, then such contacts will only receive text version.
By default confirmed is the value of this option, but if you are following the strict standards of email hygiene, always consider sending a confirmation email to update the contact status as confirmed. For this case you can mark the status of the contact as Unconfirmed to later send an email with confirmation link.
The value by default is active to consider every newly added contact as Active to receive the email campaigns you schedule by selecting the specific list which contact is added to. Inactive contacts wouldn’t receive the campaigns.
Dropdown has multiple options and by default system rightly keeps the bounce status of new contact as “No” which means that the contact hasn’t been flagged as bounced within the list yet. In case of selecting the other two options, make sure that the contacts that you will mark as hard bounce here will no longer be able to receive the emails.
If you know that the contact, you are adding has unsubscribed from your mailing list in the past, then select the yes option. Otherwise, keep the default value selected which is “No”.
Note: As within CampaignsPlus, lists are separately maintained, therefore, the contact unsubscribed or bounced in one list will not be considered the same for others.
Additional & Custom Fields
If the list that is selected to store the contact information doesn’t have additional or custom fields, then the process of adding contact information finishes here. But if you have added few, fill them out with right information. To learn more about custom/ additional fields, click Custom Fields.

Rows of the first column have checkboxes that would help selecting records of multiple rows. You can select multiple suppressed IPs and then choose to delete them, using “Delete” under tools.
System assigned contact IDs are being displayed under the column, every row represents a unique contact ID that helps system to recognize specific contact within the database and perform various processes. E.g. when you send a Confirmation Email, system sends the confirmation link by keeping this Sender ID encrypted within the link. When the recipient clicks the link, system automatically matches the Contact ID and updates its status to “Confirmed” within the database.
Email addresses of the contacts are being displayed in the rows under this column. For email system, email is used as primary as well as the compulsory value to add the contact details.
Name of the list to which contact information was added/stored.
First Name & Last Name
Values under both the columns are representing the first and the last name of the contact. Since First and Last name of the contacts are the additional and optional fields, rows for some contacts may remain empty.
If the contacts email was being flagged as bounced within the list of its belonging, rows for such contacts will show the category of the bounce between Hard or Soft. If no process has yet been performed with the contact, then for such contacts it will show No Process, and if the contact has received some campaigns in the past and didn’t bounced back, it will then show, No.
Showing the time stamp when the email was being added to the list of its belonging.
