Dynamic Content Tag offers a tool to make your email marketing more intelligent. It helps you practically implement the data driven email marketing for improving email engagements. Use of the contact details from the data fields can’t be better and more initiative than this. You draw rules for the contacts with the similar details, and lay out a separate content that can match their preferences and behavior, and CampaignsPlus takes care of the rest. Let’s see how it works.
Navigate to Add Dynamic Content Tag
Main Navigation -> Dynamic Content Tag -> Add a Dynamic Content
Adding a dynamic tag takes couple of selections and creating a unit of content to complete. Here is how we add a new tag.
Give an identity to the new tag to start with. An easily identifiable name would help make an easy selection while Add a Campaign and using specific tag in it.
List of all available contact lists appear to make a selection of one or multiple desired ones. Selection of list is important because these are the contact lists that carry contact information with the data fields (Default, Additional, and Custom Fields). Later when you add a content unit, you will get to know that you actually utilize these data fields to make a custom condition for the contacts to qualify and receive the content from the tag. Proceed further to understand this better.
The box is specific for the current content units in specific tags to appear. It remains empty when a new content unit yet to be created. If you have created some content units for a specific tag, they would appear in this box and you will have the ability to edit or remove them.
Add Content Unit
When you click on this button from the bottom of the page, a new window would popup on your screen, ask you to provide the details of the content unit. The details of content unit are.
Since one dynamic tag can have more than one content unit, it is important to provide each one an identity to make it recognizable among others.
Tick the small checkbox beside the unit label to make this a default content unit. In the absence of any content unit, the default content unit will be used when the applied rule matches.
Right content and intelligently devised content rule are the vital parts of dynamic content tag. You can see three empty fields, that we may call three steps make use of and constitute a rule or condition for the contacts to qualify. See the following example rule to understand it better.
|First Step||Second Step||Third Step|
|Data Field Selection||Condition||Status Value|
Add More Rules
There is a button to click a keep on adding more rules for a content unit. You can also discard a specific rule by removing it using the delete button.
Content for the Content Unit
Use the editor to create content for the content unit, it can either be text or can also be the HTML content. You can explore number of options to add relevancy to your content, like adding variables for content personalization and spin tags to specific parts from the content rotating for the contacts who qualify. Let’s continue our commonplace example rule, when Gender is Female, you don’t want contacts that qualify for the condition to show an offer having Gents Accessories. So you add a separate unit and would create content targeting the female audience carrying Female Accessories only. Whenever the system will identify that the Gender field of the contact has the value Female, it will automatically push the content saved within the content unit.
Note: Make sure that the list you have selected while creating the content unit should contain values within the data fields (Additional and Custom Fields) in order to make the rule work. E.g. if you have selected List A and have defined a rule when Gender is Female, upon sending a campaign to List A, dynamic content tag will only work when the List A has a custom field called Gender and it has values also (Male-Female and others).
