Email headers offers valuable information about the sender like the subject, name and from email, SPF, DKIM status and such. Other than the primary routing information, you would sometime need to include custom values in your mail headers, to better describe the email. Some examples of the custom values for the headers are X-priority to define the higher priority of the email and List Unsubscribe etc.
This specific function of Global Headers will help custom values for the mail headers to carry with the emails you send from the system. Creating a custom value for the mail header will have a global effect on all the outgoing email, which means, values that you add here will be the part of the headers of every outgoing email.
Navigate to Global Headers
Main Navigation -> Setup -> Global Headers
The table that opens up after clicking Global Headers will remain empty, unless you add a value for the headers. To add a new global header value, click “Add Global Header” from the top left area of the table. Once you click, the option to add value pops-up on your screen with the following two fields.
Provide a label to the value you want to include in the mail headers, e.g. list-unsubscribe.
It is the field where you would provide the actual value to be included globally in the headers of all outgoing emails, like the value for the label “List-Unsubscribe” would be the email address firstname.lastname@example.org , that would receive a notification of a recipient’s unsubscribe request.
Upon "Submitting" system would include List-Unsubscribe value in the header of every outgoing email thereafter.
View Available Global Headers
All new headers that would add using the popup option will be displayed in the View Global Headers table to view and manage. First column of the table helps you make a selection of multiple records by ticking the checkboxes and then opting for delete under the Tools to delete the selected headers. 2nd and 3rd column together provides the information about a specific header comprising of Header Label and Value. And from the last column “Actions” you can opt to edit specific header values or can also delete it to remove from the list and from the header of future outgoing emails as well.
